New Rule: DKI Tourist Attractions, Gyms, Salons, Cinemas, And Swimming Pools Shall Be Closed

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government has tightened regulations on micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) tourism business activities for the period from June 22 to July 5, 2021. Many activities are required to close operations during this PPKM period.

This is stated in the Decree of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Province Tourism and Creative Economy Office Number 419 of 2021 which has been effective since June 22.

In this provision, the DKI Provincial Government requires all tourist attractions, both indoor and outdoor, to close operations for two weeks.

"Tourism areas or recreational parks such as Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, and others may not operate", wrote DKI Head of the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kadisparekraf) Gumilar Ekalaya in a decree, quoted on Wednesday, June 23.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government also prohibits salons or barbershops, golf courses, water tourism, physical fitness centers (gym and fitness center), museums, and galleries to operate.

Then, meeting activities, seminars, workshops, and meeting buildings that previously had an organizing permit were also not allowed to operate.

However, DKI still allows hotels to operate. "Accommodation service providers (hotels) operate 100 percent for 24 hours with stricter implementation of health protocols", said Gumilar.

Then, the business of screening films or cinemas, bowling, billiards, sledding, water parks, swimming pools, and children's play areas are also required to be closed.

Meanwhile, marriage contracts, blessings, or wedding ceremonies at hotels and conference halls are still allowed to run with a maximum capacity of 30 visitors, from 06.00 a.m. until 20.00 p.m. local time.

"Wedding receptions at hotels and meeting halls that already have an organizing permit can operate with a maximum capacity of 25 percent of visitors with the implementation of stricter health protocols and are prohibited from serving meals on the spot", he continued
