MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government has again extended the application of Micro Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) or curfews from June 16 to the next 13 days.

"This is a manifestation of our efforts to anticipate the spread of COVID-19 and monitor the rate of COVID-19. Of course the Makassar City Government strongly supports the implementation of PPKM from the Central Government," said Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto in Makassar, Thursday, June 17.

The extension of the PPKM was carried out after attending a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, virtually from the Makassar Mayor's home, Monday, June 14.

The PPKM policy is stated in Circular Number: 443-1/245/S.Edar/Kesbangpol/VI/2021 regarding the extension of PPKM in Makassar City. This decision was taken referring to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 13 of 2021 on June 14, 2021.

The circular regulates the operating hours of industries in Makassar City. For example, shopping centers can only operate until 21.00 WITA. Meanwhile, restaurants, coffee shops, night entertainment and other businesses until 22.00 WITA.

The enforcement of the regulation was responded quickly by the Raika Task Force as one of the Task Forces authorized to disentangle the crowd.

The head of the Raika Task Force Imam Hud said that his party would continue to make gradual efforts to take action in carrying out the mandate and protecting the community from the corona virus. Moreover, it has been indicated that there is a new variant of the corona virus.

"We certainly do socialization, accept it and don't want to accept it, it goes back to the community. But we are also authorized to take a measured, targeted, persuasive approach to the last action," said Imam who is also the Head of Makassar City Satpol PP.

Since May 25, the Makassar Raika Task Force has confiscated 4,300 chairs and tables and has issued warning letters to around 10,000 coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants in 15 sub-districts throughout Makassar City.

"This we simultaneously descend in 15 sub-districts. Law enforcement is directly proportional to understanding and awareness," he said.
