Bad News, COVID-19 Red Zone Regency/City Increases To 29 Regions

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, revealed that there has been an increase in the number of districts/cities that have a high risk of COVID-19 or are in the red zone.

Wiku said, currently the COVID-19 red zone rose to 29 districts/cities this week. In fact, last week the number of red zones was still in 17 regions.

"The number of red zones is from 17 to 29 city districts, the orange zone is from 331 to 339 urban districts, and the green zone is from 7 to 24 urban districts. While this week there was a decrease in the number of new yellow zone districts, from 158 to 121 urban districts, " said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Thursday, June 17.

There are also indicators that cause changes in the COVID-19 zoning, including the cumulative incidence threshold of positive cases per 100,000 population, death rate of positive cases per 100,000 population, number of testing 10,000 residents, and average isolation usage in the past week.

"Broadly speaking, in fact the weekly zoning development is not very good, one of which is that there are a number of 23 city districts from the orange zone to the red zone," he said.

Wiku also warns of areas classified as orange zones whose scores are close to the red zones of Kota Regency.

These areas are Bandung City, Pontianak City, Central Sumba Regency, Siak Regency, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Medan City, Gunung Kidul Regency, Dharmasraya Regency, Tanjungpinang City, and Pati Regency.

Therefore, Wiku asked the local government to make immediate repairs in various ways, both through preventive and curative efforts simultaneously.

"Increase collaboration between local governments and the community to get used to recognizing situations based on available data, to take appropriate health policies, and to create a conducive community environment," he explained.
