Civil Service Police Unit Controls Ojolali Cafe, Condoms Found

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit has taken control of 27 illegal cafe buildings operating without a permit in the Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta.

Monitoring at the location, officers targeted cafes located under the Ir Wiyoto Wiyono toll road, precisely on the side of RE Martadinata Street.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Arifin, said that apart from being brought under control, several cafes found selling liquor and providing rooms indicated as locations for undercover prostitution were also sealed.

"We are responding to public complaints that have been submitted many times. Today we found indications of prostitution practices in the cafe buildings", said Arifin, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 15.

Arifin suspects that several cafes are used as locations for prostitution because after checking there are contraceptives.

In addition, in the cafe there are also four to six rooms ranging from simple ones, only containing a mattress and mirror, to rooms that have air conditioning (AC) facilities.

"Although it looks small from the outside, it turns out that inside we found rooms with air conditioning facilities for rent", said Arifin.

In fact, in the dimly lit cafe building in Kampung Bayam RW 08, Papanggo Village, none of the electricity meters or tokens were found by PLN officers who participated in the control operation.

"Earlier this was checked by PLN officers in the field, the cafe building did not have any meters, it was illegal", said Arifin.

Several sealed cafes also provide liquor (alcohol) and rooms, including Ojolali Cafe and Jati Sari Cafe.

Inside the cafe, according to Arifin, there is a notebook containing transaction rates in one place.

"Therefore, the action was taken today", said Arifin.

The operation, said Arifin, was an effort by the DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit to reduce the number of COVID-19 transmissions in DKI Jakarta.

"Because we know that the current situation is still a COVID-19 pandemic, Jakarta is arguably approaching a critical situation. Therefore, in closing the transmission of COVID-19, bars or cafes are not licensed and so on, we will close", said Arifin.
