CIKARANG - The National Electric Motorcycle or Molinas immediately received a commitment to purchase in large quantities. Rosan Roeslani said James Riady expressed readiness to buy 20,000 units of the electric motorcycle.
The commitment was conveyed by Rosan during the launch of Molinas in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, Thursday, August 13, which was attended by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Mr. James Riady from Lippo, who had just talked about the commitment to buy 20,000 electric motorcycles, Mr. President. Thank you Mr. James Riady," said Rosan.
Rosan did not specify the time of purchase, type of motorcycle, transaction value, or stages of procurement of 20,000 units.
Molinas was developed through collaboration between the government, state-owned enterprises, and national companies.
Rosan said the government wanted the development of national electric motors to strengthen the independence of the domestic industry.
"In accordance with the direction of the President that we must be independent, we must be self-sufficient, stand on our own feet for every economic activity in Indonesia," he said.
According to Rosan, Indonesia has the raw materials needed to develop an electric motor ecosystem, especially nickel as a battery material.
The government will encourage the use of nickel-based batteries, including their downstream processing into battery cells and battery packs.
Rosan also said that about 10 national companies had met the criteria for the Domestic Component Level or TKDN from the Ministry of Industry.
In addition to strengthening production, Danantara is preparing financing support for consumers. Banking and financial institutions under Danantara will be encouraged to provide lower interest rates and longer tenors.
The down payment for the purchase of electric motorcycles, which is currently said to be around 10 percent, will also be reduced, even removed.
Rosan hopes that the scheme can accelerate demand while increasing the capacity of national electric motor production.
