JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency or BRIN is preparing an energy research product based on Absorbed Natural Gas or ANG as one of the innovations that will be exhibited to President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Thursday, August 6.

BRIN Head Arif Satria said ANG is one of the potential products that have not entered the market, but are considered to have great prospects to support energy changes in Indonesia.

"Products for ANG or Absorbed Natural Gas can be one of the points for the energy revolution in Indonesia," said Arif at the Presidential Palace Complex.

ANG is a natural gas storage technology with a lower pressure compared to high-pressure gas systems. According to Arif, this technology can be an alternative to reduce the use of LPG.

He said ANG could be used with a pressure of less than 30 bar. If it works, the technology could replace LPG and help save gas and foreign exchange.

"We can provide solutions to save gas, to save foreign exchange. Because if ANG can be used with a pressure of less than 30 bar, then it can be a substitute for LPG," said Arif.

Arif said that energy innovation was one of BRIN's mainstays that would be conveyed to the President. However, he did not explain in more detail the production scheme, the time of commercialization, or the investment needs to bring the technology to the market.

In addition to energy, BRIN also brings other research products from around 12 innovation clusters. The number of products that have been curated has reached more than 150, even approaching 200 products.

The clusters brought include food, energy, fishing villages, Free Nutritious Meals or MBG, space, aviation, nuclear, rare earth metals, housing, transportation, and health.

Arif said President Prabowo has always emphasized the importance of mastering technology for the nation.

"We remember very well the message from the President that mastering technology is the dignity of the nation," said Arif.

According to Arif, this message makes BRIN even more encouraged to produce innovations that can be used for the needs of the economy and society.
