Aceh Police Remind Residents and Coffee Shops Not to Watch the European Cup

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Regional Police reminded the public not to hold a joint viewing of the European Cup soccer championship to prevent crowds that could potentially transmit COVID-19.

"The European Cup will start this month. Don't watch it together so we don't become infectious or contract COVID-19", said Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 11.

"Don't watch the championship together because it will create a crowd that has the potential to transmit COVID-19", he continued.

Kombes Winardy said the government is currently trying to prevent crowds to reduce the number of COVID-19 transmissions, he said.

"Crowds are a potential for transmitting COVID-19. Therefore, let's prevent the spread of the coronavirus by not watching the football championship together. Stay home", he added.

He said positive cases of COVID-19 in Aceh in recent times have increased quite sharply. Do not let the euphoria of the European Cup by holding a spectacle together add to new cases that basically can still be avoided.

Kombes Winardy reminded coffee shops and other business places not to hold a viewing together. Those who organize and cause a crowd can be charged with the Quarantine and Health Act.

"Love ourselves and our families. If we have been exposed, especially to the point of death, it's no longer useful. Just let out the euphoria with your family at home", he said.

Winardy invites the people of Aceh to jointly stop the transmission and spread of COVID-19. The way to do this is by adhering to health protocols.

"Stay disciplined and apply 5M behavior, namely wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and limiting mobilization and interaction", he said.
