New Cluster Of COVID-19, 9 Members Of The Surabaya Regional Representative Council Are Exposed To Coronavirus

SURABAYA - The leadership of the Surabaya City Regional Representative Council (DPRD) said that there were nine council members who underwent both medical treatment and self-isolation due to exposure to COVID-19.

"Based on the data that has been submitted by the Health Office, to confirm that the close contacts have done the swab test, there are nine people", said Deputy Chairperson of the Surabaya DPRD, Reni Astutik, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 11.

However, Reni admitted that her party did not know who was exposed. As stated by the chairman of the Surabaya DPRD, there are several names of council members across commissions and factions.

There is also information gathered by Antara that members of the Surabaya DPRD who have been exposed to COVID-19 include the Chair of the Surabaya DPRD Adi Sutarwijono, Commission D member Siti Maryam, commission D member Dyah Katarina, Secretary of Commission A Budi Leksono, Deputy Chairperson of Commission B Anas Karno.

To suppress its spread, Reni said that her party would continue to coordinate with the Surabaya Health Service regarding the regular procedures that must be carried out at the Surabaya DPRD building.

"We also continue to coordinate with the Health Office about what kind of health recommendations", she said.

Reni emphasized that services at the Surabaya DPRD Office would continue to run normally. Even the spraying of disinfectants has also been carried out by the Surabaya City Government.

"There is no temporary suspension, as I am currently attending because there are several papers that must be signed. Also the activities of the council are not only here and also meet occasionally with residents", she said.

Meanwhile, in a virtual press statement, Chairman of the Surabaya DPRD Adi Sutarwiyono said that he is currently undergoing isolation at a hospital in Surabaya.

"I'm in isolation at the hospital under strict supervision from the doctor. The initial symptoms yesterday I had a fever. I don't know because of dengue fever or COVID-19. But now it's getting better, the fever has gone", said Adi, who is also the chairman of the Surabaya PDIP Party Branch Management Board (DPC).

Adi stated that several members of the PDIP Party Faction were exposed to COVID-19, such as Dyah Katarina, based on the results of the swab test on June 9. "Ma'am Dyah lost her sense of smell and is now hospitalized as well", he said.

Meanwhile, another member of the PDIP Party faction, Siti Maryam, was also exposed to COVID-19 and is currently being treated in a hospital.

"On June 5, during a pilgrimage to Bung Karno's grave in Blitar, Mrs. Maryam as soon as she arrived immediately asked to go home because she had a fever. She immediately checked and asked for treatment to a doctor. So I confirmed the possibility of infection between 2-3 days earlier", he said.
