DPRD Chair to Kuansing Regency Head Called by the KPK in Connection with the Suhardiman Amby Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned a number of officials in the environment of the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government (Kuansing), Riau as witnesses today. They will be asked for information regarding the case of bribery for filling positions and alleged receipt that ensnared the non-active Regent of Kuansing, Suhardiman Amby.

"The examination was carried out at the Riau BPKP Representative Office," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, July 8.

The witnesses who were summoned included the Head of the Kuansing Regency DPRD, Juprizal, the Head of the Logas Tanah Darat, Syahferry, the Assistant I of the Kuansing Setda, Fahdiansyah, the Head of the Plantation Service, Andri Yama Putra, and the Head of the Housing, Residential Area, and Land Service, Ade Fahrer.

In addition, investigators also scheduled an examination of the Head of the Administrative Section of the Kuansing Regency Government Sigit Purnomo, member of the Kuansing DPRD Dasver Librian, Head of the General Section of the Kuansing Regency Government Marel Hendra, and Head of the General Section of the Kuansing Regency Government Deswan Antoni.

Budi did not elaborate on the materials investigated by the witnesses. However, the KPK said there was another alleged receipt made by Suhardiman Amby to handle the release of the Limited Production Forest (HPT) area, allegedly assisted by an intermediary.

"So there is a suspicion that the collection process was carried out by the Regent through intermediaries. Of course we will also investigate the role of these intermediaries, what it is, whether it is passive or active," said Budi in a separate opportunity to reporters.

As previously reported, the KPK named three people as suspects in the alleged bribery of the filling of the Kuansing Regent's post after conducting a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) on Monday, June 29. They are Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby, Kuansing Regent Zulkarnain, and Ardiles as President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant.

In the construction of the case, Suhardiman allegedly asked for one unit of Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S worth around Rp2.05 billion to the participants of the selection for the position of the Regional Secretary.

The request was fulfilled by Zulkarnain who bought the vehicle through a credit scheme using Ardiles' identity for financing applications.

In addition, the KPK also found other alleged receipts made by Suhardiman related to the process of releasing Limited Production Forest (HPT) areas. Investigators are said to be tracing the amount of receipts, the mechanism of giving to the party suspected of receiving at the Ministry of Forestry.
