JAKARTA - The 2026 Kasad Judo National Championship is a symbol of synergy between the TNI, Polri and the community through sports, said the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian National Army, General Maruli Simanjuntak.

He said this in his opening remarks at the 2026 XVI Kasad Judo National Championship at the Kostrad Infantry Division Headquarters, Cilodong, Depok West Java, Thursday (25/6) which was read by the Chairman of the Committee, Major General TNI Aminton Manurung, who served as Assistant Operations Kasad.

General Kasad Maruli said that this championship is not only an event to compete for medals and titles, but also a means of character building, strengthening brotherhood, and planting the values of discipline, sportsmanship and the spirit of never giving up which are the soul of Judo sports.

"The Kasad Judo Cup tournament has become a quality training ground for all Judo provincial managers in Indonesia in preparing outstanding athletes in a sustainable manner," said General Maruli in a speech read by the committee chairman, Thursday (25/6).

"This championship is a symbol of strong synergy between the TNI, Polri and Masyaraka through sports," he continued.

"Let's strengthen coaching, improve performance, and strengthen the collaboration of all elements of the nation in advancing the Indonesian Judo sport to the regional and international levels," said Kasad.

The championship, which was held for four days on June 25-28 at the Kartika GOR, Divif-I Kostrad, was attended by general participants from the TNI-Polri.

From the general group, 606 participants were recorded from 26 Provincial Governments, with details of the Senior category 249 participants, Junior 166 participants, and Cadet 155 participants. Of that number, 570 athletes will compete in the Shiai Number and 36 athletes (16 pairs) will compete in the Kata Number.

Meanwhile, in the TNI-Polri category, 186 participants were recorded consisting of 137 sons and 49 daughters from 54 units throughout Indonesia.

Kasad also advised the athletes to compete with high fighting spirit but still uphold sportsmanship, as well as respect for opponents, referees and match officials.

For coaches and officials, Kasad advised to always accompany and guide athletes to achieve their best performance.

As for the referees, Kasad advised them to serve professionally, fairly, and uphold integrity.

Kasad also hopes that this championship can make a real contribution to the progress of Indonesian Judo.

"Win with humility and accept defeat with a big soul. Because the character of a champion is built from these two traits," said Kasad.
