Banda Aceh Bans Wedding Parties For Entering The COVID-19 Red Zone

BANDA ACEH - The Banda Aceh City COVID-19 Task Force Team forbids weddings and other activities that invite crowds as a COVID-19 prevention measure

"It is requested that all activities that cause crowds, such as weddings, circumcisions, and other events, be postponed for a while", said Head of BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) Banda Aceh Rizal Abdillah, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 9.

Rizal said that the postponement of this activity was carried out because Banda Aceh had returned to the COVID-19 red zone status from the previous orange. This step is also an effort to break the chain of the spread of the coronavirus.

"So for now, we will temporarily stop the activity, the community can resume it when Banda Aceh is out of this red zone", he said.

Rizal said that during the orange zone, the government still allowed activities such as weddings to be held with a health protocol discipline record, considering that people needed to improve their economy.

However, Rizal said, although the residents promised to be willing to implement strict procedures during the activity, in its implementation, there were also potential violations.

"This means that during the party activities there are also those who violate the health protocol. Therefore, it must be postponed until they are out of the red zone", he said.

Rizal added, if there are people who violate these provisions, they will be subject to sanctions by the Banda Aceh Mayor Regulation Number 51 of 2020 concerning the application of discipline and law enforcement for prokes violators.

"We continue to monitor, if anyone is caught violating the regulations, we will be sanctioned according to the Mayor Regulation, and we will seal the place", said Rizal Abdillah.
