Putri Zulhas: President's Message on Natural Resources and Energy Strengthen the Spirit of the People's Economy

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission XII of the DPR, Putri Zulkifli Hasan, expressed his support for President Prabowo Subianto's speech in the 19th DPR Plenary Meeting regarding the Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and the Fiscal Policy Elements (PPKF) of the 2027 State Budget.

In his speech, the President emphasized that Indonesia's natural resources must really be enjoyed by all Indonesian people. The President also emphasized the constitutional mandate which states that the earth, water, and all natural resources contained therein must be used to the greatest extent for the prosperity of the people.

In response to this, Putri Zulkifli Hasan assessed that the direction of government policy in natural resource management needed to continue to be strengthened so that economic benefits did not only stop at the upstream sector, but were also able to create added value, strengthen national industries, and improve people's welfare.

"The President's message is very clear, that the management of natural resources must really bring real benefits to the people of Indonesia. Therefore, the governance of the export of natural resource commodities, downstream processing, and strengthening the domestic industry is very important," said Putri in her statement, Wednesday, May 20.

Putri also highlighted the President's statement regarding the success of investments which he said had created around 2.7 million jobs. According to him, this achievement must be maintained through economic policies that are in favor of the people and encourage the equalization of development benefits.

"Investment must continue to be encouraged, but its orientation must remain on job creation, strengthening the national industry, and improving people's welfare," he continued.

In addition, the Princess welcomed the government's commitment to the development of new and renewable energy, including the strengthening of solar energy as part of the national energy transformation towards sustainable energy independence.

As the head of Commission XII of the DPR which deals with energy, the environment, investment, and downstream, Putri emphasized that the DPR RI will continue to monitor various strategic policies so that Indonesia's economic development can run sustainably and remain in the interests of the people.

"The Indonesian economy must be based on national interests and people's welfare. Collaboration between the government, DPR, business world, and all stakeholders is the key to realizing Indonesia's equitable, independent, and sustainable development," said Putri.
