Prabowo Targets Energy Self-sufficiency by 2029 at the Earliest

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has targeted Indonesia to achieve energy self-sufficiency by the end of 2029. He said the target could be accelerated if the work went faster.

This was conveyed by Prabowo after reviewing the facilities of SMAN 1 Cilacap, Wednesday, April 29. The statement came when he answered questions about the target of self-sufficiency in fuel.

"Swasembada energy is our target at the end of 2029 at the latest. If it can be earlier, yes we will work quickly," said Prabowo.

Prabowo admitted to being optimistic. According to the President, Indonesia has great resources. The problem is how the country manages and takes care of it.

"We are optimistic. The Almighty has given us extraordinary resources. It's up to us to manage or not, we dare to keep or not," he said.

Prabowo also alluded to the risks that resource-rich countries are commonly faced with. According to him, such countries are often the target of many parties.

"It is normal if the name of a rich country is certainly the target of many parties," he said.
