JAKARTA - The North Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov) has strengthened collaboration with the business world to accelerate regional development, especially in the road infrastructure sector through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

This commitment was emphasized in a social gathering and a joint declaration with the Governor of Kaltara with the heads of companies at the Lumire Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, April 20.

The Governor of Kaltara, Zainal A. Paliwang, emphasized the importance of synergy between the government and the private sector in responding to the urgent needs of the community.

"The government and the business world have the same goal, namely to build a more advanced and developed North Kalimantan," said Zainal.

He revealed that a number of roads were prioritized for handling because they had a direct impact on the distribution of agricultural products and people's basic needs. Among them, the Tanjung Selor-Tanah Kuning road, which is in a very bad condition, as well as the Gunung Seriang route to Peso District, which is the main access for people in the upstream area of the Kayan River.

"In addition, the improvement of road infrastructure in Tana Tidung Regency and Nunukan Regency is also a concern, as conveyed by the respective regional heads," he said.

Zainal also invited companies to make a real contribution through CSR programs according to their respective capacities.

"Through this forum, I invite company leaders to discuss, commit, and contribute to the people of North Kalimantan," he explained.

He also reminded companies to fulfill their regional tax obligations and encourage the placement of funds in banks operating in Kaltara to strengthen the local economy.

"In the forum, representatives of the plantation, mining, and forestry sectors have presented CSR programs that have been running and at the same time expressed their readiness to strengthen synergy with local governments," he said.

It is known that in the discussion which was guided by the Assistant for Economic and Development of the Kaltara Regional Secretariat, Bustan, it became an open space to unite ideas and plans for future development.

"As a follow-up, the North Kalimantan Provincial Government will form a provincial level CSR Forum as a more focused coordination forum, especially in supporting the development of the basic services sector for the community," said Bustan.

This activity was also attended by the Deputy Governor of Kaltara Ingkong Ala, the Chairman of the Kaltara DPRD, the Regent of Bulungan Syarwani, the Deputy Regent of Nunukan Hermanus, and the Deputy Regent of Tana Tidung Sabri, along with a number of heads of regional devices.

The meeting was closed with the signing of a joint declaration by 41 company leaders, local government elements, and the DPRD as a form of joint commitment to building Kaltara.
