Rp450 Thousand Arrears, Mataram City Government Seals PKL Stall in Loang Baloq

MATARAM - The Mataram City Tourism Office, West Nusa Tenggara Province, sealed one of the street vendors in Loang Baloq Amusement Park because they were in arrears with rental fees.

Head of the Mataram City Tourism Office, Cahya Samudra, said the arrears amounted to Rp450 thousand since January 2026.

"The arrears of the sealed stalls have reached Rp. 450 thousand because they have not been paid since January 2026," he said in Mataram, Antara, Tuesday, April 21.

He explained that the sealing was carried out as a firm step to provide a deterrent effect as well as a warning for other traders who use government facilities.

According to him, before the action was taken, the trader had received three letters of reprimand, but was ignored. Therefore, the stall was finally sealed until the obligation was paid.

"The seal will be opened when the trader pays the arrears," he said.

Cahya added that a similar step could potentially be implemented in other locations, including the former Ampenan Port area, although for now it is still waiting for further provisions.

He emphasized that the policy was a follow-up to the instructions of the Regional Secretary of the City of Mataram to optimize the Regional Original Income (PAD), by encouraging regional device organizations (OPD) to be more assertive and get out of the old work pattern.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the City of Mataram, H. Lalu Alwan Basri, emphasized the importance of a progressive attitude from the PAD management OPD, including the parking sector, markets, to waste management.

"We have to get out of our comfort zone, even though there are social and economic impacts, but it must still be in accordance with the rules," he said.
