Jokowi Moves Fast, Has Built 2 Broken Bridges Due To Flash Floods In NTT With A Budget Of IDR 370 Billion

NTT - Head of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Provincial Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Maksi Nenabu said the central government had begun to build two bridges damaged by the brunt of the Tropical Cyclone Seroja.

The budget disbursed by the government touched more than IDR 370 billion. "In the first stage, the central government has approved the construction of two bridges that were damaged by the Seroja, namely the Benenai Bridge in Malacca Regency and the Termanu Bridge in Kupang Regency", said Maksi Nenabu when contacted in Kupang reported by Antara, Monday, June 6.

According to him, the Bebenai bridge in Malacca Regency, which was damaged by the flash floods, was built with a budget of around IDR 300 billion.

"The work on the Benenai bridge in Malaka has been processed and handled directly by the Central Government", he said.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Termanu Bridge in the Kupang Regency will begin in 2021 with a budget of IDR 70 billion.

"The central government prioritizes the construction of the two bridges because they are the lifeblood of transportation and support the acceleration of community economic development", he said.

In addition, according to Maksi Nenabu, the NTT government has also proposed to the Central Government for the construction of dozens of bridge units damaged by the brunt of the Tropical Cyclone Seroja.

He said the budget needed for the construction of tens of bridge units was more than IDR 200 billion.

"We have proposed that hopefully in the not too distant future the central government will agree. The construction of dozens of bridge units cannot use the regional budget because the funds are very limited", said Maksi Nenabu.
