JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that until now there has been no decision to withdraw TNI troops from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

"Oh, there is nothing to go there (pulling TNI troops from UNIFIL)," Teddy said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, Friday, April 10, reported by ANTARA.

Teddy conveyed that the government would continue to assign TNI soldiers to the peace mission, while carrying out periodic evaluations both internally and externally.

He explained that the government's attitude regarding the assignment of troops abroad had been emphasized by the TNI Commander General TNI Agus Subiyanto and Foreign Minister Sugiono, who emphasized the commitment to the role of Indonesian soldiers both at home and abroad.

According to him, the delivery of TNI troops to UNIFIL is part of the constitutional mandate as stated in the opening of the 1945 Constitution, especially in efforts to maintain world order.

"So, I think it has been very firmly conveyed in accordance with the opening paragraph of the law, regulating, world order. So, we are sending troops there to maintain peace and we are firm against the existing evaluation," said the Secretary of the Cabinet.

Previously, the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government had not made a decision regarding the withdrawal of TNI personnel from UNIFIL.

"If the question comes down to the decision to withdraw, it hasn't. But with the incident yesterday, of course we as the government must coordinate," said Prasetyo.

He explained that the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was still continuing to coordinate and evaluate following the incident that befell TNI soldiers in the area.

According to him, the possibility of withdrawing troops still depends on the results of ongoing evaluations, including the development of the situation on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated that any changes related to the participation of TNI personnel from UNIFIL must be carried out with very careful consideration, so that they cannot be withdrawn just like that.

Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang said Indonesia's participation in UNIFIL is part of Indonesia's solid international commitment to world security and peace.

Until now, three TNI personnel have fallen and eight others have been injured in three separate attacks while carrying out duties with UNIFIL in Lebanon.
