Polda Metro Has Not Found Criminal Elements in the Alleged Case of Calling Makar Saiful Mujani

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya menerima dua laporan terkait dugaan ajakan makar yang diduga disampaikan pendiri SMRC, Saiful Mujani.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Budi Hermanto, said the report is currently still in the stage of deepening by investigators.

"Currently we have received two reports from the public regarding the alleged content of the call for rebellion," Budi told reporters, Friday, April 10, 2026.

He explained, one of the reports was received on Thursday, April 8, 2026 at around 21.20 WIB. Both reports are suspected of Article 246 of Law Number 1 of 2023.

According to Budi, the current process is still limited to an investigation to determine whether or not there are criminal elements in the case.

"We are still conducting an in-depth investigation regarding the incoming police report," he said.

Budi emphasized that the police had an obligation to receive every report from the public. However, not all reports would proceed to the investigation stage.

"If no criminal elements are found, there is not enough evidence, or there are no witnesses to support it, then the case can be stopped," he said.

He also appealed to the public not to drag this issue into the political and SARA realm. According to him, the legal process will run according to the applicable mechanism and be open to public supervision.

"We invite the public to remain wise and not make this report a form of criminalization or be brought to SARA and political issues," he concluded.
