Trump Claims Kim Jong Un Once Insulted Biden, Praising His Relationship with Pyongyang

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump claims North Korean leader Kim Jong Un once used derogatory terms to describe Joe Biden's mental state. Citing The Independent, the statement was delivered by Trump while speaking to reporters at a press conference at the White House on Monday.

Trump revealed this when complaining about Washington's allies, including South Korea, which according to Trump did not help the United States much in the war against Iran. He then alluded to the presence of 45,000 US troops in South Korea and said he had a very good relationship with Kim Jong Un.

"He said very good things about me," Trump said. He then claimed Kim had once called Biden a mentally disturbed person. "He was very cruel to Joe Biden, it was terrible. But to me, he liked Trump," he said.

The Independent in its report, which was reported on Tuesday, April 7, wrote, Trump himself has also repeatedly attacked Biden's mental state. In recent years, he has accused Biden of suffering from serious cognitive decline. In the 2024 presidential debate, Trump also said Biden "doesn't even know what he's talking about."

Biden withdrew from the nomination for the White House in July 2024 amid growing concerns about his physical and mental state.

Kim Jong Un and senior North Korean officials have long been known to hurl insults at US politicians. In 2014, the then-North Korean permanent representative to the United Nations, Ri Tong Il, once called the United States a "mental disorder patient". In 2023, Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un's sister, also attacked Biden and called him senile.

But Trump himself has also been the target of Pyongyang's mockery. During his first term, Kim had mocked Trump as a "senile old man", "a cowardly dog", and "a gangster who likes to play with fire".

Trump became the first sitting US president to meet directly with Kim in 2018. After that, the two met again twice. Trump also boasted of the "love letters" he received from Kim.

But talks on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula have not borne fruit. North Korea has also continued to conduct missile tests in recent years. The latest test is reported to have taken place in late March, as Pyongyang seeks to build weapons capable of reaching the US mainland.

Even so, Trump still said the situation with North Korea was "very good". At the same time, he also boasted of his own mental acuity. In a cabinet meeting in March, Trump claimed that he was the only president to ever take a cognitive test and pass it perfectly.
