PDIP asks the police to reveal the intellectual actor behind the Andrie Yunus watering case

Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP Faction, TB Hasanuddin, strongly condemned the act of pouring hard water on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, who was carried out by an unknown person (OTK) in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.

TB Hasanuddin assessed that the action was a form of violence that could not be justified in a state of law and had the potential to threaten the freedom of civil society to express criticism.

"I strongly condemn the act of spraying hard water on Brother Andrie Yunus. Violent acts like this should not be allowed to happen in a democratic country," TB Hasanuddin told reporters, Saturday, March 14.

The member of the defense commission also asked law enforcement officers to immediately investigate the perpetrators and the motives behind the incident, so as not to create fear among activists and civil society.

"The police must immediately reveal who the perpetrator is and what his motives are. The state must not lose to acts of terror that threaten the safety of citizens," he said.

TB Hasanuddin also emphasized that protection of activists and human rights defenders is an important part of maintaining the quality of democracy in Indonesia. "I hope the police can work quickly and transparently in handling the case so that public confidence in law enforcement is maintained," said Major General TNI Purnawirawan.

Previously, KontraS Deputy Coordinator, Andrie Yunus, was the victim of a water spray by an unknown person in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. As a result of the incident, Andrie suffered injuries and received medical treatment.
