Garbage landslide in TPST Bantargebang, 3 people died

JAKARTA - Garbage landslides occurred in zone 4 of the Integrated Waste Processing Area or TPST Bantargebang, Ciketing Udik Village, Bantargebang District, Bekasi City, West Java. This event caused three people to die after being buried by landslides.

Head of the Jakarta SAR Office Desiana Kartika Bahari said the landslide also buried a number of garbage trucks and stalls in the area of the incident.

"There has been a landslide in zone 4 of the Bantargebang landfill in Ciketing Udik Village, Bantar Gebang District, Bekasi City, West Java Province. 3 victims were found buried in the landslide. There are still many garbage trucks buried and stalls in the area," said Desiana in his statement, Sunday, March 8.

The three victims who died were successfully evacuated from the scene. Two victims are known to be owners of stalls around the Bantargebang TPST area, while the other victim is a garbage truck driver.

The victims who died were named Enda Widayanti (25) and Sumine (60) who were the owners of the stall, as well as Dedi Sutrisno, a man who was a truck driver and came from Karawang.

The bodies of the two victims have been repatriated to Banten, while another victim was taken to Karawang to be buried.

The SAR team is still conducting data collection regarding the possibility of other victims in the incident. "For the time being, the number of victims is being collected," said Desiana.

The process of handling at the location involves a number of elements, including the Bekasi SAR Standby Unit, BPBD Kota Bekasi, and BPBD DKI Jakarta Province.

In this operation, the team used a number of equipment such as Dmax rescue car, extrication rescue equipment, evacuation equipment, and post support equipment.
