SITUBONDO - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Situbondo Police, East Java, has started to process the crime scene (TKP) after the Gegana Team of the East Java Police sterilized the location of the firecracker explosion that killed one person and injured six others.

The explosion occurred on Wednesday at around 12.00 WIB at the house of Kulsum (60), a resident of Mimbo Village, Sumberanyar Village, Banyuputih District.

"Currently, the Identification Team of the Situbondo Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Identification Team and the Forensic Laboratory of the East Java Police are conducting a crime scene investigation," said Situbondo Police Chief AKBP Bayu Anuwar Sidiqie in Situbondo, Antara, Thursday, February 19.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Situbondo Police, AKP Agung Hartawan, said that the team could only conduct the crime scene after the sterilization of the location was declared safe by the Gegana Team of the East Java Police.

As a result of the explosion, which was suspected to have come from firecrackers, seven people were burned and fractured. One victim, Supriyadi (50), died after being hit by the ruins of the house.

The other six victims, namely Samsul (22), Riko (25), Faiz (20), Fino (25), and Kulsum (60), were rushed to Asembagus Hospital. Meanwhile, another victim, Abdurrahman (15), was referred to Dr. Abdoer Rahem Situbondo Hospital because he suffered 90 percent severe burns.
