JAKARTA - Citra Institute researcher Efriza revealed that there is a pragmatic political interest behind political parties that support President Prabowo Subianto serving for two terms rather than political parties that support until 2029 only.

He assessed that political parties that support Prabowo for two terms tend to be less trustworthy, because they want their party's popularity and electability to be boosted through their statements as well as their desire for their cadres to be vice presidents.

"Like PAN and PKB. For example, PKB even betrayed to support Anies Baswedan, as well as PAN which is still not solid to support Prabowo in previous years," said Efriza, Sunday, February 15.

According to him, the support for two periods is not purely oriented towards stability and continuity of leadership, but

"kegenitan" politics only in the public space. Therefore, the attitude of Golkar, Democrat, PKS, and NasDem is considered more rational by supporting the Prabowo government until 2029.

"Regarding support in the presidential election, they are more careful, because they consider political dynamics, and maintain maneuvering space when there is a change in the constellation," he continued.

He added that these four parties, based on several presidential elections, have a strong influence to determine the candidate pair, such as NasDem and PKS which have an influence on the AMIN pair in 2024.

In addition, the Democrats have AHY who was considered in 2024 and even later in 2029, as well as Golkar which tends to direct the candidate pair and even the victory. "So, these four parties feel that because they have a big influence, a high bargaining position, it is not easy to immediately declare support for Prabowo for two terms," said Efriza.
