One TNI Soldier Killed by KKB in Mile 50 Tembagapura, Freeport Employee Injured

JAKARTA - Kapendam XVII Cenderawasih, Lieutenant Colonel Tri Purwanto, said that the KKB fired at vehicles passing through Mile 50, Tembagapura, Mimika Regency, resulting in three people being shot.

From the report received, it was revealed that the victims of the KKB shooting were two members of the TNI. One of them died, namely Serka AC and his colleague Sertu H was injured and had a nosebleed.

Meanwhile, another one, HR, an employee of KPI PT. Freeport Indonesia was reported to have been shot in the incident and is currently under treatment.

Kapendam XVII Cendrawasih Letkol Inf Tri Purwanto said that at the time of the incident, personnel from Koramil 1710-04/Tembagapura, Kodim 1710/Mimika were carrying out their duties in the area.

"It is true that there has been an incident of contact shooting at KM 50 area of PT. Freeport Indonesia in Tembagapura and currently all victims have been evacuated to receive optimal medical treatment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 11.

He added that from the preliminary report received by Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, it was revealed that Serka AC was killed in the shootout, and Sertu H suffered bleeding in the nose, while HR (KPI employee of PT. FI) was shot.
