Tomorrow, Rizieq Shihab Registers An Appeal Against The Judge's Verdict

JAKARTA - Rizieq Shihab and his legal team will appeal against the judge's verdict in the case of crowds in Petamburan and Megamendung.

Rizieq Shihab's legal team member, Aziz Yanuar said his party would officially file an appeal on Wednesday, June 2.

"We will formally appeal tomorrow. We are making this appeal because the public prosecutor declared an appeal first," said Aziz Yanuar, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 1.

Aziz Yanuar said his client had actually received the judge's verdict in the Petamburan and Megamendung crowd cases.

"HRS and his friends are actually tired of this process and accepted yesterday's verdict with confidence," said Aziz Yanuar.

Previously, the East Jakarta District Court Panel of Judges in a trial on May 27 sentenced Rizieq Shihab to eight months in prison for the crowding case in Petamburan. The verdict is lower than the prosecutor's demand for a sentence of two years in prison.

Furthermore, the East Jakarta District Court Panel of Judges sentenced Rizieq Shihab to a fine of Rp. 20 million for a crowd in Megamendung, lower than the prosecutor's demand for a sentence of 10 months in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 million.
