JAKARTA - Human Rights Minister (HAM) Natalius Pigai asked the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Melki Laka Lena to issue a circular to identify extreme poor people (desil-1) in NTT Province.

Pigai said the circular followed up on a case of a primary school child (SD) who ended his life because he could not afford to buy pens and books in Ngada Regency, NTT.

"I asked the Governor of NTT this morning, I have asked to issue a circular to all regents and mayors throughout NTT so that they identify those who are desil-1 and the second is to help the administration like that," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 5.

According to Pigai, the Ministry of Human Rights has also coordinated with the Governor of NTT to investigate the case.

"Therefore, I have coordinated with the governor, the governor is also sad, the governor will go down on Saturday tomorrow if it is NTT, yes," he said.

According to data reported to the Ministry of Human Rights, Pigai revealed that the population problem was the main motive in the case.

The population problem, said Pigai, occurred due to the difference in data between districts regarding residence on the identity card (KTP).

"The data I got, the parents are residents in Nagekeo Regency, the therapy is living in Ngada, so the services of desil-1 assistance cannot be served. This is an administrative problem, sorry, yes, why is the administrative problem causing people not to be served," he said.

"Desil-1, for example, he is a poor person, but he comes from District A, his KTP, but he lives in District B, yes. Then in the district where he lives, he can't be served because the documents are in District A," continued Pigai.

In addition, he said that the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian had also ordered all regents and mayors to regulate the population administration problem.

"This is the most serious problem that has occurred so that the Minister of Home Affairs has ordered all regents and mayors to discipline the administration," he said.

Previously, an elementary school student in Ngada Regency, NTT, ended his life by leaving a letter for his mother with the initials MGT (47).

The letter contains the victim's request to his mother not to look for him, and to say goodbye.

It is known that the victim is known to live with her grandmother, because her mother is a single parent and works as a farmer or a scatter.

The victim's mother took care of five children, including the victim who had died.
