Active Cases Of COVID-19 Increasing, Anies Extends Micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions In DKI Jakarta Until June 14

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has extended the implementation of micro-scale community activity restrictions (PPKM) until June 14, 2021.

This is stated in the Governor's Decree no. 671 of 2021, Governor's Letter No. 251/-1.772.1, and Governor's Instruction No. 37 Year 2021.

Head of the DKI Health Office, Widyastuti, said that there had been an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks. Widyastuti said that this spike was due to the return of people from going home after the Eid 1442 Hijri holiday.

Whereas as of May 31, 2021, active cases in Jakarta were 10.658, an increase of 3.365 from the previous two weeks.

“This year's spike in cases is slightly better than last year's 30 thousand cases. This figure is also obtained from the hard work of our tracing officers to carry out early detection, especially those who finished traveling on the last Eid holiday", said Widyastuti in a statement, Tuesday, June 1.

Widyastuti explained that the occupancy of the isolation beds for COVID-19 patients as of May 31 was 33 percent or 2.176 out of 6.621 beds. Meanwhile, ICU beds were 36 percent or filled with 362 of 1.014 beds.

“This is different from last year, where despite a spike in cases, our bed occupancy rate is below 50 percent. However, we remain vigilant for a spike in more severe cases", he said.

Furthermore, Widyastuti said as of May 31, 2021, 2.432.561 people had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 1.775.331 had received the second dose of the vaccine. The target of vaccination in stages 1 and 2 is 3.000.689.

Then the company employees and their families who received the Mutual Cooperation (Gotong Royong) vaccination were 12.673 people from the first dose.

"Hopefully, the number of people who get this vaccination will increase and approach 70 percent of the population, so that the sooner we can achieve communal immunity. This is also balanced with the community's adherence to health protocols", concluded Widyastuti.
