No Criminal Elements Found, Police Stop SDK Teacher Case in Banten

JAKARTA - Police have officially stopped investigating the alleged crime of psychic violence against minors, with the reported CB (54), a teacher at a Catholic Elementary School (SDK), in the Pamulang area, South Tangerang City (Tangsel).

This was conveyed directly by the South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Boy Jumalolo. According to him, from the results of the investigation, and the title of the case on January 29, 2026, no criminal element was found in the case.

"Based on the results of the title of the case, the investigators concluded that the reported incident did not meet the elements of a criminal act as referred to in the applicable regulations," he said in a written statement, Friday, January 30, 2026.

"Thus, the investigators of the South Tangerang Police decided to stop investigating the report," he continued.

To note, a teacher at the Elementary School (SD) in Pamulang, South Tangerang, named Christiana Budiyati, was reported to the police after giving advice to her students. This case went viral on social media.

The incident began during a school competition in August 2025. At that time, a student fell, but no friends helped him. As a class teacher, Christiana then gave general advice to all students to be more caring, responsible, and help each other.

The explanation was conveyed by Christiana's son through the Instagram account @dinogabrl. He emphasized that the advice was not intended for a particular student, but for the entire class.

However, one of the students felt that the advice was a reprimand in front of the class. The student's family then reported Christiana to the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A) and to the South Tangerang Police with allegations of verbal violence.

The school and the police have conducted mediation, but the student's family chose to transfer their child to another school and continue to file a legal report.

In the midst of this process, a petition of support for Christiana Budiyati has emerged which has been signed by more than 22 thousand people. Many parties consider that the teacher's advice is part of the educator's duty, not violence.
