WEF speech, Prabowo claims RI policies are designed to support economic stability

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia's economic policy was designed to be measured and data-based as the main foundation in maintaining stability and fiscal discipline.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in his speech at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday local time. The president assessed that this approach was the key to national economic resilience in the midst of global uncertainty.

"Our policies have been and will always be appropriately designed," the president said, as quoted by ANTARA.

The President explained that national stability which supports economic policies does not happen by chance. This can be realized because of Indonesia's consistent choice to prioritize unity, collaboration, and friendly relations rather than confrontation.

According to him, history has shown that there is no prosperity without peace and stability.

"History teaches us that peace and stability are our most valuable assets. Peace and stability are the main prerequisites for growth and prosperity. There will be no prosperity without peace," he said.

In addition, Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining the country's credibility in economic and fiscal management.

Throughout its history, said Prabowo, Indonesia has never experienced a default on debt obligations. According to him, every government regime always respects the obligations of the previous government.

"Our credibility, which we have built up painstakingly for years, we continue to maintain. The lost credibility is very expensive to restore," said Prabowo.

Prabowo also emphasized the discipline of policy and continuity of economic governance as the foundation for Indonesia to continue to grow sustainably and maintain global confidence.
