PATI - The government of Pati Regency, Central Java, has decided to temporarily close all religious tourism objects and natural attractions in order to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 disease.

"The closure and tightening of this tourist attraction is an anticipatory measure so that COVID-19 cases do not continue to soar. The closure is scheduled for two weeks while observing developments," said Pati Regent Haryanto in Pati as reported by Antara, Sunday, May 30.

All sub-district heads, village heads, health centers, and related parties are expected to work hard to take preventive measures. The goal is to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic until now, he said, Pati Regency has never treated up to 88 hospitalized patients, although there are also referral patients from other regions.

"Initially in the Regency, there were only around 40 positive COVID-19 patients. But now it has increased to 88 patients. That means the increase is more than 100 percent. So it is better for us to take preventive measures than to take treatment," he said.

He said, for people who want to hold meeting events, it is recommended virtually in order to prevent new crowds and clusters to form.

Likewise, residents who want to hold a wedding. Indeed, receptions are not prohibited but must be limited. The district government noted that of the 21 sub-districts in Pati District, the highest cases occurred in Pati District.

Previously, a number of hospitals in Pati received referrals for COVID-19 patients from other areas, such as the KSH Pati Hospital which received 42 COVID-19 patients. As many as 25 patients including from Kudus Regency and the rest from other areas, said Haryanto.
