BULUNGAN - In the midst of a yellowed corn field in Antutan Village, Tanjung Palas District, North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abady together with the Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Andries Hermanto, went directly to the land, picking corn with farmers.

The simultaneous harvest of the 2026 first quarter of the Great Corn was a meeting room between state officials and the silent work of farmers.

Kaltara Police Chief Irjen Djati Wiyoto Abady revealed that the harvest was carried out on a five-hectare land owned by Guntur, one of the local farmers who had the potential to produce about five tons of corn.

"This activity is part of the simultaneous harvest which also took place in Bulungan and Malinau Regencies with a total land area of 5.3 hectares," said Inspector General Djati, Thursday, January 8.

The Police Chief emphasized that this harvest was not just a symbolic activity but a form of togetherness in maintaining food security.

"The synergy between the National Police, local governments, and the community is the key to ensuring that agriculture continues to grow and provide direct benefits to farmers," said Inspector General Djati.

He explained that January 2026 data recorded the potential for corn harvest in Kaltara reached an area of 20.685 hectares with an estimated production of around 20 tons.

"Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data for Kaltaea in 2025 showed that the area of corn harvest reached 1,074 hectares with a dry corn production of 9,510 tons, which means an increase in corn production," explained Inspector General Djati.

"I and the ranks of the Kaltara Police appreciate the farmers and farmer groups who have worked since land processing to harvest," he continued.

The Police Chief hopes that the hard work of these farmers will not only produce corn, but also maintain the sustainability of food and the economy of the village community.

"In the future, the corn harvest is planned to be absorbed by Bulog as an effort to maintain price stability and provide market certainty. The National Police, the Kaltara Police, are committed to maintaining the kamtibmas situation so that agricultural activities can take place safely and sustainably," he said.
