JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) ensures that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program will continue to be carried out during Ramadan 2026, especially targeting pregnant and lactating mothers and children under the age of five or toddlers.

Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana said that MBG aims to reduce stunting so that in addition to students in schools, the program also targets pregnant, breastfeeding and toddlers.

"Even in 2026, we will prioritize the first 1,000 days of life. Therefore, on holidays, in Ramadan, our program will continue because our main target is pregnant women, breastfeeding and toddlers because the golden time period is very short because that's where stunting is prevented and the brain develops," said Dadan in a review of SDN 01 Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

Considering the importance of nutritional fulfillment in the first 1,000 days and even in the womb, Dadan said that BGN will continue to ensure that no pregnant women and toddlers are missed to receive MBG throughout this year.

With this step, it is hoped that it will support the government's target to reduce the national stunting rate as low as possible.

"Don't forget now because the beneficiaries are 55.1 million, the supply chain needs are very significant. Alhamdulillah, this Free Nutritious Meal program has also contributed tremendously economically," he said.

He highlighted that there were around 700,000 people who had worked directly in 19,188 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) during 2025, in addition to those involved as suppliers or providers of materials for SPPG.

Previously, BGN resumed running the MBG Program simultaneously on Thursday, January 8, after the school holiday period. Until the end of 2025, the program has served around 55.1 million beneficiaries in various regions of Indonesia.
