NUNUKAN - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) reported that flooding was still submerging a number of areas in Nunukan Regency.
The Head of the Nunukan BPBD, Asmar, revealed that hundreds of residents' houses and public facilities were affected by the overflowing rivers in several sub-districts.

"In Lumbis District, flooding affected Lubok Buat Village with 18 affected families, Katul Village with three families, as well as Liuk Bulu Village and Binanun Village with about 300 houses submerged," he explained.
Meanwhile, in Sebuku District, the Sebuku River water level continued to rise and had entered the settlement of the Kunyit Village due to the high intensity of rain.
He added that in addition to residents' houses, the flood also submerged various public facilities, including the Sembakung Damkar Post, the General Meeting Hall, the Sembakung GOR, a number of schools ranging from elementary, middle, to high schools, the KUA office, the PLN office, the Koramil Sembakung, the agricultural office, the health center, the posyandu, the house of worship, and other educational facilities.
"BPBD Nunukan recorded the water level of the Sembakung River in Atap Village at 4.40 meters or up from the previous 4.35 meters. Meanwhile, the water level of the Lumbis River in Mansalong Village was recorded at 8.6 meters, down from the previous 9.0 meters. Until now, the early warning weather from BMKG is nil, but the public is asked to remain vigilant against the potential for rising water levels of the Sembakung River," he added.
In handling disasters, the Nunukan BPBD Pusdalops continues to monitor and analyze disaster data from the BPBD sub-district posts, monitor weather conditions through BMKG, and carry out regular reporting to the North Kalimantan Provincial BPBD and BNPB.
