Innalillahi, Seroang Technician Killed As A Result Of Being Stuck In A Hotel Elevator In Malang

JAKARTA - A 53-year-old technician was found dead due to being caught in an elevator during repairs at a hotel located on Jalan Letjen S Parman, Malang City, East Java, Friday, May 28.

Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Malang City Fire Department Teguh Budi Wibowo said the evacuation process of victims was carried out for approximately two hours, deploying approximately 12 personnel.

"Approximately two hours the new victim was completely evacuated. Because if you hurry, the condition of the body will be damaged," Teguh said, in Malang City, East Java, as reported by Antara, Friday, May 28.

Teguh explained that the Malang City Fire Department received a report regarding the incident at around 09.30 WIB. The evacuation process was carried out carefully, so that the victim's body was not damaged.

According to Teguh, before being found dead, the victim was repairing the hotel elevator which was damaged. Some time before, it was reported that the elevator for the employee was not functioning optimally.

"There were reports that the elevator was damaged, then it was trying to be repaired. Then, the elevator suddenly started," said Teguh.

Teguh added that when he received the incident report, the victim's position had been pinched. It is estimated that the victim was caught between the first and second floors of the hotel. The victim's body was pinched at the bottom of the neck, left leg and left hand.

"There was blood coming out of the victim's ear. In addition, it is not yet known where else, it may also have come from a wound on the back," Teguh said.

It was confirmed that the victim was not a hotel guest, but a technician who was working on repairing the elevator. Currently, the victim's body has been taken to the Saiful Anwar Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Malang City.
