JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Environmental Service (DLH) held a simultaneous cleaning force appeal in five administrative cities. This appeal was carried out to ensure readiness for waste handling, especially after the series of 2026 New Year's Eve activities held by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

The New Year's Eve celebration carries the theme of Jakarta Global City: From Jakarta with Love. The activity was filled with inter-religious prayers and fundraising for people affected by disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

The apple of the troops marked the start of an integrated cleanliness operation involving all sanitation elements in Jakarta. The focus of sanitation security is directed to the main points of activity and public crowded locations.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Service Asep Kuswanto said that as many as 3,845 sanitation personnel were alerted to support the implementation of the New Year's Eve activities.

The personnel are from the Environment Service Department in five administrative cities, the Waste Management Unit of the Water Agency (UPSBA), the Integrated Waste Management Unit (UPST), to the Environment Director of the Thousand Islands.

"Officers will work simultaneously at strategic points with a layered work system so that waste handling can be done quickly and effectively," Asep told reporters, Thursday, December 31.

In addition to personnel, the DKI Jakarta DLH also prepared supporting facilities and infrastructure for the cleanliness operation. A number of fleets and equipment were deployed to speed up the transportation and cleaning of garbage after the event.

Asep said that the facilities prepared included a typer truck, cross car, road sweeper, toilet bus, dust bin, and thousands of hygiene equipment such as plastic bags, bamboo brooms, and pengki.

DLH targets all activity areas to be clean before dawn. According to Asep, coordination of officers in the field and community involvement are important factors in maintaining the cleanliness of Jakarta during and after the New Year's Eve celebration.

"We have prepared all of these facilities so that waste handling runs effectively and does not accumulate until the next day, as well as making it easier for people to throw away their garbage in the right place," said Asep.
