The West Java Transportation Agency (Dishub Jabar) is focusing on monitoring seven points prone to traffic jams and eliminating angkot, wagon, and rickshaw transportation modes during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.

This was said by the Head of the West Java Transportation Service, Dhani Gumelar, after attending the High Level Meeting of TPID and TP2D West Java in Garut Regency, Tuesday, December 9 in connection with the projected increase in community mobility by two percent or around 90,667 people out of a total of 4.6 million people in 2024.

For monitoring points, said Dhani, it is focused on seven main lane points that are predicted to experience a surge in tourists, namely Puncak, Pelabuhan Ratu, Lembang-Ciater, Ciwidey-Pangcangan, Garut, Kuningan, and Pangandaran.

"Because this is indeed a tourist destination that is indeed the destination of the community, especially from outside West Java and West Java itself," said Dhani.

In addition to focusing monitoring on seven main tourist spots, he said the West Java Transportation Agency also asked angkot, wagon, and rickshaw drivers with a total of 4,711 drivers to temporarily suspend their operations on December 24-25 and December 31, 2025-1 January 2026 to break down traffic congestion.

A total of 4,711 drivers were detailed in Bogor (1,825 angkots), Cianjur (1,416 angkots), Bandung Regency (111 deman), West Bandung Regency (10 deman), Garut Regency (457 deman), Tasikmalaya Regency (28 deman, 229 rickshaws), Kuningan Regency (100 deman), and Cirebon Regency (535 rickshaws).

"So what I mentioned earlier is that these are the main routes for tourist purposes. Well, maybe for two days (both Christmas and New Year) it will be temporarily suspended," said Dhani.

However, he stressed that the affected drivers would receive compensation from their cessation of operations during the Christmas 2025 period and the new year 2026. The amount of compensation, he continued, is IDR 200 thousand per day per person.

"A total of four days is Rp. 800 thousand. The payment mechanism is carried out directly before December 24, 2025," he said.

After that, the program will be monitored by a monitoring team from the West Java Transportation Agency, UPTD for their respective regions and the Regency/City Transportation Agency which will then be made the minutes of the event per day.

With the arrangement of seven priority points, termination and compensation for affected vehicles, the West Java Transportation Agency hopes that the flow of tourism and homecoming for Christmas 2025 and the new year 2026 can run smoothly, orderly, without disturbing the comfort of the community.
