BANDA ACEH Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Aceh ensures that they continue to supervise foreign nationals who serve as volunteers in disaster areas in Aceh Province.

Head of the Aceh Immigration Regional Office, Tato Juliadin Hidayawan, said there were a number of foreign volunteers who entered Aceh and are now in several affected locations.

He emphasized that all their activities were still being monitored in accordance with statutory provisions.

Previously, as many as 10 volunteers from Malaysia arrived at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport (SIM), Blangstar, Aceh Besar, on Saturday, November 29. They are a medical team carrying medical aid for medicines.

Five humanitarian volunteers from China also arrived via SIM Airport on Thursday, December 4. Their presence was an invitation from the Aceh Government to help deal with disasters. The volunteers brought special equipment that could detect bodies buried in mud.

All the volunteers entered according to procedures. Malaysian volunteers use visa-free for 30 days and Chinese volunteers using a visit visa upon arrival, also valid for 30 days, "said Tato.

He added that his party continues to coordinate with all immigration offices in Aceh and related agencies to ensure the activities of the foreign volunteers are in accordance with immigration regulations.
