Bridge On The Border Collapses, Brimob Intervenes To Save Access To Sebatik Residents

SEBATAIK Company 2 Battalion B Pioneer in the Brimob Unit of the North Kalimantan Police (Kaltara) moved quickly to rebuild the bridge that collapsed in Badminton Village, Sungai Limau Village, RT 14, Sebatik Tengah District, Nunukan Regency.

The Commander of the Brimob Unit (Dansat) of the Kaltara Police, Kombes Pol Sarly Sollu, revealed that due to the swift current of the river, the bridge which is the main access to Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Tapal Batas collapsed on Thursday, November 6, 2025,

"Rebuilding began to be carried out on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The first step was taken by building an emergency bridge, cleaning up the rubble of the collapsed bridge, and preparing poles as the main foundation," said Kombes Sarly.

"Mr. Kapolda (Irjen Pol Djati Wiyoto Century) and a number of main officials have directly reviewed the progress of the construction. On Friday (5/12)," he continued.

Kombes Sarly emphasized that the bridge construction was carried out as a form of concern for the safety and smooth activities of people in border areas. His party will also provide support to the community, especially infrastructure improvements that have a direct impact on education services.

This bridge is vital because it is the only access to Madrasah MI Tapal Limit. We hope this development can be completed soon so that teaching and learning activities will run smoothly again," said Sarly.

He added that all Brimob personnel together with the community worked together to complete the development with the spirit of mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kaltara Regional Police, Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Century, expressed his appreciation for the rapid response and real work of the Brimob ranks.

"The presence of the National Police, especially Brimob, must provide direct benefits for the community, especially in strategic areas such as Sebatik Island which is a border area," concluded Inspector General Djati.
