JAKARTA - Ammar Zoni through his attorney submitted a request for protection to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) since November 26, 2025. The application was submitted to obtain justice collaborator status in a narcotics case that is currently being tried at the Central Jakarta District Court.
Ammar was involved in a case of alleged malicious conspiracy related to the circulation of narcotics class I weighing more than five grams.
Together with five other defendants, he was charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) or Article 112 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law no. 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics.
Deputy Chairperson of LPSK, Sri Suparyati, explained that Ammar's application is still in the process of being investigated. According to him, this submission is related to requests for protection as a witness to the perpetrator.
"LPSK has received a request for protection from Ammar Zoni. Currently, a request for protection is being submitted in connection with the application as a witness to the perpetrator," he said greeting his statement, Friday, December 5, 2025.
Sri said that the witness perpetrators could only be given protection if they contributed to the disclosure of crimes, including the wider disclosure of networks related to narcotics trafficking cases. This is based on the rules.
"The quality of the applicant's testimony must be able to really help law enforcers in uncovering cases thoroughly," he said.

SRI emphasized that the JC standard is not the same as the ordinary defendant. A witness perpetrator must be able to open the case completely, starting from the flow of transactions, the network structure, to the parties referred to as the controller above it.
According to him, the quality of information is the main assessment before someone deserves to be protected as JC.
"As we all know, the witness to the perpetrator must at least know and be able to uncover the real crime, so the quality of the information must be greater," he explained.
Regarding narcotics cases, Sri emphasized that the main indicator in JC's petition was the extent to which applicants could help uncover a larger network, not just evidence of a crime in court.
"Hopefully, the applicant can dismantle the large networks above it," he continued.
Currently, LPSK is still conducting research to ensure complete information regarding applicable regulations. This process is carried out through coordination with related parties.
In narcotics cases, the contribution is considered from how far the applicant can help law enforcers penetrate large networks that have been difficult to touch.
Therefore, LPSK is still conducting deepening and coordinating with various parties before determining its feasibility.
"Currently, the petition is still in the process of being investigated and requires further investigation regarding the petition of the witness perpetrator," he said.*
