BPBD Proposes To Build Talud To Prevent Abrasion From Settlement On Auki Island, Papua

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) proposed the construction of a talud to prevent sea water abrasion for community settlements on Auri and Urep Islands, Padadaido District, Biak Numfor, Papua.

"The area of residential areas in Auri, Urep, as well as the West Biak Beach and Biak North Coast must immediately be built talud. Otherwise, sea waves can be eroded, some of which have disappeared," said Head of BPBD Biak Numfor Lot L Jensenem in Biak, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He hopes that the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Papua Provincial Government, and the Biak Numfor Regency Government, can allocate a special budget to build a talud to prevent coastal abrasion in Biak Numfor Regency.

The local government, he continued, is seriously asking BNPB to handle the construction of a coastal talud on the coast of Biak Island.

"We also propose through the Regency APBD through the Provincial PUPR Service," he said.

Lot admitted that the demand for talud development in the archipelago continues to be submitted to related parties, including the BNPB RI in Jakarta.

The proposal to build the talud, he said, was to prevent abrasion and had been forwarded to the Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) through the Natural Resources Sector (SDA).

"As well as the Biak Numfor Regency Government to encourage handling to BNPB with the support of readiness criteria," said Lot Jensenem.

Lot warned that the absence of talud to prevent coastal abrasion could increase the risk of disasters in the tide, which suddenly floods people's houses on the local island.
