Polda Metro Jaya Deploys Security And Security Guard Ahead Of Christmas And New Year 2026

Polda Metro Jaya invites all security units (satpam) and environmental security units (satkamling) to increase public security ahead of the 2026 Christmas and New Year celebrations (Nataru).

This was conveyed by the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri in an apple which was attended by more than 1,500 participants, consisting of around 800 security personnel and 500 other personnel at the Metro Jaya Police Precision Field, South Jakarta, Friday, November 28, 2025.

According to Asep, the celebration of the two big days is always followed by a surge in community mobility in various locations.

"Soon we will welcome Christmas and New Year 2026. There will be many challenges and community activities like every year," he said.

The Kapolda said that community mobility is estimated to increase by 45 to 60 percent. Shopping centers, churches, tourist attractions, airports, terminals, and other public spaces are predicted to be crowded with visitors.

Asep said that the high mobility has the potential to increase vulnerability and crime in the community.

"Increasing potential disturbances to public order, such as theft, pickpocketing, ATM scamming, digital fraud, and other street crimes take advantage of the negligence of all of us," he explained.

Therefore, he emphasized to all participants of the apple, both police, security guards, and hansip, not to hesitate to face every crime and prioritize services to the community.

"Ladies and gentlemen, security guard and security guard are the face of the leading security who are present directly in the community. Our job is not only to guard, but also to calm down. Not only to supervise, but also to protect," he added.

Asep also highlighted the potential for special vulnerabilities during Christmas services that require orderly security, location sterilization, congregational flow management, and crowd control.

Meanwhile, on New Year's Eve, risks related to firecrackers, fires, mass panic, and hidden threats such as acts of terror, must be seriously anticipated.

"In this situation, early detection and rapid reporting become the first bulwark of defense," he said.

Furthermore, he reminded that the role of security guards and satkamling has been regulated in Perpol Number 4 of 2020 concerning Swakarsa Security, which places both as an important part of community participation in maintaining environmental security.

In his directive, Asep conveyed seven points of strengthening security, namely: operational readiness, layered security, early detection, rapid response, humanist appearance, active synergy and communication, as well as maintaining integrity and avoiding violations.
