JAKARTA - The King of Dangdut and General Chair of the Attention of the Dangdut Indonusa Music Artist (PAMDI), Rhoma Irama, asked the government to be present in thorough art management.

Rhoma highlighted the phenomenon of "Korean Fever or K-Pop" that occurs in various parts of the world, including Indonesia.

"We hope here that so far I see that the government has not been present in the overall art management," said Rhoma Irama at a public hearing (RDPU) with the DPR Baleg at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.

Rhoma also asked the Indonesian government to learn from the success of South Korea and the United States in managing the arts and culture and creative industry that dominates the world. According to him, this success cannot be separated from the support of his government.

"If we take benchmarks from the United States that the US turns out to be foreign exchange of the country from extraordinary art, exceeding its natural resources. Of course, we will be very happy from various arts in Indonesia, very potential where many Indonesian arts are not owned by other countries," said Rhoma.

"And I'm sure, like we just take the example of Korea. The world is in the middle of a Korean feder, whether the drama is, the music is because of the government's involvement in various aspects of this art," he continued.

Rhoma assessed that Indonesia actually has a variety of artistic wealth, but has not been seriously managed by the state. Therefore, he hopes that the government can be more active in developing the domestic creative industry.

"This is all I want to convey that in the future how the government is seriously involved is present in the management of various kinds of Indonesian cultural arts," he concluded.

For information, this RDPU is a follow-up to the discussion on the Revision of the Copyright Law conducted by the DPR Baleg. Previously, on Tuesday, November 11, the DPR Baleg also invited singers, songwriters to producers who are members of the ACTION, VISION and ASIRI organizations to receive input on changes to the Copyright Law.
