JAKARTA - The court on Monday 17 November found former Bangladeshi Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina guilty of a crime against humanity.
All elements that constitute crimes against humanity have been fulfilled, said Bangladeshi Court Judge Golam Mortuza Mozumder reading his ruling in a packed court in Dhaka, which was also broadcast live on national television, quoted from AFP.
The court's ruling put the 78-year-old woman at risk of a death sentence.
Hasina is known to have opposed the Bangladesh Court's order to attend the trial of the case, which required her to return from her escape to India.
In this case, Hasina was accused of ordering a deadly crackdown on student demonstrations that led to chaos that toppled her in August 2024.
