Mother In Japan Kills 5-Year-Old Child, Body Stored In Freezer

JAKARTA - A mother in Japan is facing charges of murder after her five-year-old daughter's body was found in the freezer in their home.

Authorities suspect Yoko Kawaguchi, 37, has strangled his daughter, Shoko, before keeping the victim's body in the freezer.

The autopsy showed signs of pressure on the victim's arm and hands, which indicated the child died from shortness of breath. No other serious injuries were found on the victim's body, said the source of the investigation.

As reported by ANTARA from Kyodo-OANA, this case was revealed when Kawaguchi crashed his car into the side of the road on September 16. To the police, he admitted that his daughter was missing.

When officers came to his house, they found Shoko's body in the freezer, which was believed to have been stored for several days.

At the time of the incident, the mother and child lived both in the house, said a source close to the investigation.

Police arrested Kawaguchi on October 22 on suspicion of neglecting the corpse. On Wednesday, authorities issued a new warrant, ensnaring him on charges of murder.
