Drug Traders And Market Medical Devices In Scouts Protest, Rejecting Sealing For Revitalization

JAKARTA - All drug traders and medical devices (alkes) at Pramuka Market, Matraman, East Jakarta, closed the kiosk after the kiosk sealing activity by Perumda Pasar Jaya on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The sealing process was colored by protests from traders. As a result of this action, the pharmaceutical trade activity in the market was completely paralyzed.

This boycott of trading had to be carried out by traders as a form of rejection of the sealing of 20 merchant stalls by Perumda Pasar Jaya.

The drug traders and medical devices protest against the determination of the stall rental price for 20 years which is considered too high. The price has been set by Perumda Pasar Jaya.

Buyung (30), one of the drug traders, said the price of kiosk rental rose to Rp. 400 million after the revitalization was carried out. This price made him object.

"Maybe if it's Rp. 200 million, it can be worked on, but the high demand is Rp. 400 million," Buyung told reporters, Thursday, November 13.

Buyung said the closing of the kiosk was carried out on Thursday, November 13. This closing action is a form of solidarity between fellow traders.

"I have paid, the payment can be calculated. That's why he (the Perumda Pasar Jaya) has dropped because maybe most have not paid. Right now, we are closing it," he said.

Meanwhile, the sealing of the kiosk carried out by Perumda Pasar Jaya in Pramuka Market aims to curb the mafia which has kiosks and leases them back to other traders.

Just so you know, the majority of traders in Pramuka Market are not the original owners of the kiosk. They sell at the kiosk by renting to the kiosk owner at a price of hundreds of millions per month.

Perumda Pasar Jaya will revitalize the Scout Market because the right to use the place of business has ended since May 2024.

Until now, traders are still using their place of business actively without being subject to the price of extending the right to use their place of business which is an obligation to Perumda Pasar Jaya as stipulated in Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2018 concerning Management and Development of Regional Public Companies Pasar Jaya.

The revitalization of the scout market is expected to create a more organized, hygienic, safe, and comfortable market environment, as well as an example of the transformation of traditional markets towards modern management.
