Seven Bombs Found During Explosion At SMAN 72 Are Two Different Types Of Bombs

JAKARTA - The Gegana Satbrimob Team of the Polda Metro Jaya revealed the results of the crime scene (TKP) for the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta. From the results of the police investigation, two different types of bombs were found.

From the mosque's crime scene, we found pieces of plastic, bag pieces, steel nails and zinc as fragments (sharpnels), VCP boards, and four A4 batteries which became six volts of power. This series is an active bomb controlled by remote control," he told the media at Polda Metro Jaya, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The explosives used, based on the results of the detection of Rigaku devices, contain potassium chlorates, including chemicals with low explosive power. Bomb casings are similar to plastic jerry cans measuring one liter.

"Then there is a plastic fragment, if we reconstruct it the same shape as a plastic jerry can of one liter," he said.

Henik added that the impact of the explosion in the mosque caused waves of pressure and pieces of nails that caused many victims to suffer injuries, especially in the ear due to air pressure.

"From some evidence, we analyze that the power used by the suspect, it uses four A4 batteries, then the initiator is electric mesh, then the explosive contains potassium chlorate, then the switching uses a remote-controlled receiver," he said.

Furthermore, apart from the mosque's crime scene, the team also found five other bombs around the waste bank and Taman Baca. Henik revealed that one bomb with a Coca-Cola drink can casing was found in Taman Baca with a remote control, while four other bombs were in the trash bank area.

Two bombs in the garbage bank have exploded but not perfect. The other two are still active. All of them use the burning axis or firework as initiators, without electronic circuits," he explained.

He explained that the two types of bombs found in the waste bank had been carried out by X-rays, and there was no electronic circuit in the bomb.

Meanwhile, the bomb in Taman Baca is still active and has been successfully secured to the Gegana Satbrimob Headquarters of the Polda Metro Jaya.

"We found the bomb in the trash bank, using a pipe casing measuring 3 per 4 mm, with a length of approximately 20 cm," he said.

"And we have checked the two that are still active, because we know about how our friends from Jibom used to carry out bomb junctions manually, because there was no electronic circuit," he continued.

Of the total search results, the police confirmed that there were seven bombs on site, with two bombs exploding inside the mosque (using remote control), two bombs in the trash bank exploding imperfectly, two bombs in the trash bank still active and One bomb in Taman Baca still active

"So a total of seven bombs, four have exploded and we managed to secure the other three in an active condition," he said.

Henik confirmed that all active explosives had been secured at Gegana's headquarters, while the scene had been declared sterile.

"We set up security perimeters, starting from the red zone at the explosion point, the yellow zone for the working team, the gray zone is limited, and the green zone is outside the school fence which is declared safe and sterile," he concluded.
