LMA Lanny Jaya Supports Apparatus To Enforce Law In Papua Mountains

JAKARTA - The Indigenous Community Institution (LMA) of Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains supports security forces in enforcing the law in the region.

The head of LMA Lanny Jaya Regency, Tias Urnom Kogoya in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Sunday, said that traditional institutions always cooperate with security forces in the Papua Mountains region to maintain a conducive security and public order situation.

"For this reason, we urge people in the Papua Mountains Province, especially residents of Lanny Jaya Regency and community groups of the Lanny Tribe to keep the situation conducive," he said.

According to Tias, security stability is a shared responsibility, especially because the Papua Mountains area includes eight districts that have various social dynamics.

"From the customs, it always goes hand in hand with the security forces to realize security throughout the Papua Mountains region. This collaboration is important so that people can live safely, peacefully, and stay focused on development," he said.

He explained that related to the arrest of members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Dugi Kogoya by the security forces, his party considered that the legal process must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.

"As a traditional leader and chairman of LMA Lanny Jaya, I urge the public to remain calm, not to do chaos or actions that actually harm themselves and others," he said again.

He added that the legal process against KKB member Dugi Kogoya, who is currently running, is a result of the criminal acts that have been carried out.

"We leave it entirely to the state legal mechanism and I will convey to the family so as not to interfere with the ongoing legal process but respect the law and we keep things safe," he said.

Just to note, currently, Dugi Kogoya is undergoing an investigation process at the Jayawijaya Police.
