The Batam City District Attorney (Kejari), Riau Islands, is waiting for a copy of the Supreme Court's cassation decision to execute the former Head of Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, Kompol Satria Nanda and friends.
Head of Intelligence at the Batam Attorney General's Office, Priandi Firdaus, said that until now his party had not received a copy of the cassation decision.
"The execution can be carried out later when we receive a copy or excerpt of the verdict (casation) from the court," said Priandi in Batam, Tuesday, November 4.
He explained that the party was aware of the cassation decision against Satria Nanda and former Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, Iptu Sigit Sarwo Edhi, from the Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) page of the Batam District Court on Wednesday (29/10).
Until now, a copy or excerpt of the cassation decision from the Supreme Court which handed down a life sentence to Satria Nanda and Sigit Sarwo Edhi has not been received by the Batam Kejari.
According to him, the prosecutor's office accepted the decision and was ready to carry out the execution.
The verdict was only declared inkrah after seven days of the verdict being read. However, until now the Batam Kejari has not received a copy of the verdict and it is not yet known whether it has been seven working days since the decision was made.
"This case is declared legally binding or inkrah after seven days since the verdict was read, we don't know for sure whether it's been seven days or not," he said.
Priandi emphasized that the defendant's extraordinary legal action did not affect the execution process that would be carried out by the prosecutor's office.
The Batam Prosecutor's Office has discussed plans to execute Satria Nanda and Sigit Sarwo Edhi at Batam Class IIA Prison.
"The plan is to be executed to Batam Prison," said Priandi.
Kompol Satria Nanda and nine of his former members were charged with abuse of authority to set aside drug evidence to be resold to pay for information sources (SI) in uncovering drug cases in June 2024.
Satria Nanda and Sigit Sarwo Edhi were sentenced by the Supreme Court to life imprisonment, while the other eight former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
