JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that he would increase the tariff for Transjakarta services. Currently, the Transjakarta tariff per trip is IDR 3,500 since the beginning of operation in 2004.

Pramono admitted that he received a proposal for a Transjakarta tariff to increase to Rp. 7,000. Pramono's proposal was obtained from the public which was conveyed through his social media account.

"I heard that on average they proposed, on my social media it was between Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 7,000, on average. But we will decide according to what the community will do later," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, October 29.

Pramono admitted that the urgency of increasing Transjakarta rates is currently getting higher. This is because Jakarta is affected by the cutting of transfer funds to the regions (TK) which includes profit-sharing funds (DBH) of up to IDR 15 trillion.

Meanwhile, so far the DKI Provincial Government has borne the burden of transportation subsidies or public service obligation (PSO) allocated from APBD to trillions of rupiah per year.

"So we are finalizing it. Actually, even at the old tariff, we have subsidized it per ticket of Rp. 9,700. It's too heavy if it's like that, especially since the DBH is cut," said Pramono.

Even though it will increase Transjakarta rates, Pramono ensures that the inclusion of public transportation services to 15 groups of people will not be contested. The DKI Provincial Government continues to allocate a budget for free public transportation services to them.

The fifteen groups start from the civil servants of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, retired civil servants, contract workers from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, students receiving KJP Plus, residents of the Rusunawa, the PKK Mobilization Team, and employees with salaries equivalent to the UMP.

Then, residents with the Thousand Islands ID cards, recipients of the Jabodetabek domicile race, members of the TNI/Polri, veterans of the Republic of Indonesia, people with disabilities, the elderly over 60 years old, administrators of mosques/musalas, PAUD educators, as well as jumantik groups, administrators of youth organizations, dasawisma, and posyandu cadres.

"We will make adjustments but, it is not burdensome to 15 groups. Because 15 groups are still free. So we still protect them," Pramono explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, revealed that the DKI Provincial Government has not yet decided on the nominal value of the Transjakarta tariff to be raised. One of the indicators is to review the ability and willingness of the public to pay for Transjakarta tickets at this time.

"Every year we update from the ATP-WTP (ability to pay-willingness to pay) side of the community. We get an ideal number, and that will be postulated for approval from the Council (DPRD DKI)," said Syafrin.
