KPK Chairman: Corruption Eradication Is Not Just The Task Of Law Enforcement Officials

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said eradicating rasuah is not the duty of law enforcement officers. All parties should collaborate so that corruption does not occur in the country.

This was conveyed when he talked about the series of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2025 after an audience with the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X at the Yogyakarta Palace on Tuesday, October 28. He hopes that this activity will not only be ceremonial but also to strengthen collaboration.

"Eradication of corruption is not only the duty of law enforcement but the responsibility of all elements of the nation," said Setyo in an official statement from the institution, Wednesday, October 29.

Setyo explained that Hakordia 2025 was held on December 6-9 with the theme 'Satukan Aksi, Basmi Korupsi'. KPK invites all parties to work together to create an advanced, just, and integrity Indonesia,' said the former Director of KPK Investigation.

Furthermore, Setyo said, Yogyakarta will be the host. To make the event a success, his institution has also issued Circular Letter Number 16 of 2025 concerning the Appeal for the Implementation of Hakordia 2025.

Through this regulation, the KPK urges all ministries/agencies, BUMN/BUMD, and local governments to actively participate in enlivening Hakordia 202. This circular also asks each agency to optimize the role of Anti-Corruption Extension and Integrity Development Experts in carrying out activities in their respective environments.

Yogyakarta was chosen because it is known as a city of education and culture that is in line with the value of eradicating corruption. Not only that, Setyo said, this province also has good governance so that it is hoped that other local governments can imitate it.

"We hope that this momentum strengthens integrity through cultural spaces and education that live in the people of Jogja," he said.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X welcomed the appointment of Yogyakarta as the host and expressed his support for the entire series of events. His party facilitates various locations for organizing the 2025 Hakordia and encourages community involvement, students, students, culturalists, art workers, and MSME actors.
